Analysis of inner and outer conical refractions

We derive the internal and external conical refractions through Fresnel′s equation of wave normals. We investigate the images corresponding to linearly, circularly and elliptically polarized light propagating in biaxial crystals with or without material chirality. We discover the polarization distributions of the intensity patterns due to linearly polarized incident light are different from the previous research results.
